This is the largest size currently available in the Shire Value range of sheds, so it provides you with plenty of additional storage. It does, however, still have a relatively compact footprint, ensuring its suitability for a wide range of garden sizes. Constructed to a simple design from high quality timber, this fantastic garden shed is available at a low price while still providing great quality. It is fantastic if you have outgrown your existing storage space or simply need to provide sheltered storage to a range of garden items, such as outdoor furniture, tools, gardening equipment or kid’s toys.
This 8 x 6 overlap shed is better than the average overlap shed you may see sold elsewhere. Though it may be low in price, it boasts a number of features that show its quality. The key difference between the Shire Value Range of sheds and similar products is that it has supporting rails top and bottom on the inside of each wall, not just on the top like some others on the market. It also has a 34mm framework, which is 20% thicker than anything at this price level and ensures a much sturdier build that will last for years to come.
Optional Shed Base
Installing a shed on soil or grass isn't ideal, but this base allows it. Use a heavy-duty weed membrane underneath. This quick and easy solution provides a solid base without the cost of concrete or slabs. Made from 44mm x 70mm pressure-treated wood with deep preservative penetration, the base is suitable for lawns or firm soil. Adjustable base spikes (up to 100mm) are included. Simply screw the timbers and attach spikes for a sturdy, elevated base that keeps damp away. Order this base from the 'Choose Additional Options' section above.
Features
The real selling point of the Shire Value Overlap Shed is its 34mm framing. This gives the shed a strength and stability that is unmatched by similar products in this price bracket. The shed’s overlap construction promotes the efficient run off of water, which will help to keep the shed dry inside. However, an appropriate waterproofing treatment should still be used to ensure your shed’s contents remain fully protected from the elements and to ensure your shed will last. The double doors are robust and ledged, as well as featuring a hasp and staple for security. An 8mm Oriented Strand Board (OSB) roof ensures good weather resistance. Plus, with roofing felt provided with your purchase, this further adds to the level of protection. The shed floor is also 10mm OSB which should be strong enough to withstand whatever it is you need to store inside. Finally, the shed is supplied with two windows, letting in natural light. This will allow you to find items inside more easily during the day or even allow you to work in the shed.
About the Timber
You will be impressed by Shire's use of natural products and their environmental credentials. A high quality timber product starts with high quality timber, so it is important to know exactly what timber is being used for your shed. The most commonly used timber for garden buildings is pine (pinus) as this is widely available for a very cheap price, however all of Shire's garden buildings are constructed using high quality spruce (picea) and is sourced from sustainably sourced timber. Spruce is more durable than pine and provides a higher quality finish. This timber is slow grown unlike fast grown British and Eastern Europe's timber, and being slow grown means a tighter grain, less sap and with far fewer knots. The timber used on Shire's range is therefore a more durable timber that will last much longer than other timbers. Spruce is therefore the timber of choice for companies such as Shire who always look to produce the best garden building.

Additional Details about your Order
This shed supplied pre-treated with a base coat to both sides in a golden brown water based industrial product (colour can vary from the picture shown). Shire recommends that you apply a water based top coat. This will protect the timber from weathering on your shed making it last longer and will need to be repeated accordingly in relation to the manufacturer's instructions. Shire recommends Protek Royal Exterior wood finish, available from elbec in many different colours. This is also a great way to refresh the look of your shed over time or personalise it to your liking.
