Description
The Shire Arran garden shed size of approximately 6ft x 6ft makes storage a doddle with no wasted space. The shed is even large enough for a ride on mower and is great for bicycle storage. Don't overlook the fact that this shed comes with shiplap tongue and groove walls which is far superior to plain old tongue and groove walls or overlap.
The Arran Apex Garden Shed is great for those that want a lot of garden storage space but without taking up too much garden space. It has one opening window, providing ventilation and double doors for really easy access. Every part of this garden shed spells a long lasting building and its the shiplap tongue and groove method of construction which supplies its strength. The panelled walls are constructed from shiplap tongue and groove boards which are superior to sheds advertised as just tongue and groove. Sheds which are constructed from shiplap tongue and groove have a profiled finish. There is a reason why shiplap has a profiled finish it is to allow better run off of water therefore ensuring the timber dries more quickly and ensuring your wooden shed will last much longer than the equivalent tongue and groove or overlap shed. The timber used is a continental slow grown timber. Slower grown timber means tighter grain, extra strength and longer life. You will save money in the long run by purchasing a tongue and groove garden shed as opposed to an overlap model, and your regular maintenance over the years will probably be somewhat easier.
Manufactured in the UK, Shire's garden sheds are renowned for their quality and probably make the best quality wooden sheds at this price in the UK.
Timber: You will be impressed by Shire's use of natural products and their environmental credentials. A high quality timber garden building starts with high quality timber, so it is important to know exactly what timber is being used for your garden shed. The most commonly used timber for garden buildings is pine as this is widely available for a very cheap price, however all of Shire's garden buildings are constructed using high quality spruce and is sourced from sustainably sourced timber. Spruce is more durable than pine and provides a higher quality finish. This timber is slow grown unlike fast grown British timber, being slown grown timber means a tighter grain, less sap and with far less knots and warping occurring. The timber used on Shire's garden buildings is therefore a more durable timber that will last much longer than other timbers used on garden sheds. Spruce is therefore the timber of choice for companies such as Shire who always look to produce the best garden sheds.
Walls: Constructed using high quality 12mm thick softwood planed tongue and groove shiplap pattern boarding. All timber is from sustainable sources, so that you can feel good about buying a Shire shed.
Frame: A robust planed 34mm x 34mm (1 1/3' x 1 1/3') framework (walls and floor) that gives the building strength.
Floor: Manufactured from high quality 9mm Oriented Strand Board (OSB).
Roof: Is constructed from 9mm Oriented Strand Board (OSB) with included roofing felt.
Window: One opening window is included as standard and is properly morticed and tenoned which is one of the strongest joints in woodwork. It is opening, profiled, and weather resistant. The window has a unique profiled 'lip' that covers the aperture of the opening in the panel making it weather resistant. Casement stays have 2 levels of opening. The glazing is 3mm horticultural glass. All glazing is retained by profiled beading which is pre-mitred (no awkward cutting required). Being a modular building the window panel is interchangeable and can be fitted on either side. This large window allows plenty of light to flood into the shed.
Doors: Supplied with reinforced ledged doors and with padbolt.
Treatment: All Shire garden buildings are supplied pre-treated with a base coat to both sides in a golden brown water based industrial product (colour can vary from the picture shown). Shire the manufacturer recommends that you apply a water based top coat of your choice. This will protect the timber from weathering on your shed making it last longer and will need to be repeated accordingly in relation to the manufacturer's instructions.
Supplied flat packed for ease of handling and assembly. All fittings and felt are included in the price with clear easy to follow instructions.
